CORE SERVICE:
1:1 PHYSIOTHERAPY CONSULTATIONS
This is where our journey begins and typically consists of the following elements…
Assessment
The first thing we will be doing is asking you questions and listening to your unique story. Physiotherapy requires a deep understanding of the history of your condition, and consideration of your individual circumstances and goals.
Coupling this with careful physical examination sets the foundations for how we formulate your personalised treatment plan.
Education
Often the most beneficial component of physiotherapy is getting the right education. By increasing your understanding of the way the body works, how your problem has likely developed, things to do (and not to do), you will leave better equipped on how to best manage your situation.
Manual Therapies
Pain modulators and performance enhancers including massage (soft tissue release, trigger point therapy), joint mobilisation, dry needling, nerve sliders, passive stretches, etc are a part of our tool kit. These are designed as an adjunct to other treatment modalities to improve the way you move and the way you feel. Hands on therapy also assists your therapist learn more about the way you move.
Exercise
The cornerstone of physiotherapy. We design exercise programs to get your body moving more efficiently and foster an environment within your tissues that will promote healing. The right exercise regime can prepare your body for the demands you want to place on it, greatly enhance your quality of life, and prevent injury happening again. We use up-to-date tools such as PhysiApp, GLA:D Program, Clinical Exercise/Pilates and Kinetic Link Training to take your experience to the next level – we expand of these services further down on this page.

CLINICAL EXERCISE GROUPS (CEG)
These are Physio lead gym based rehab sessions with small group numbers to enable each participant to be supervised through their own tailored and independently prescribed exercise routine. Participants will typically be referred into the CEG sessions from our 1:1 Physiotherapy Consultations when it is appropriate.
KINETIC LINK TRAINING (KLT)
KLT is a brilliantly balanced and time-efficient system of full-body functional strength and conditioning training that can be done at home or in the gym. Our physios are experienced KLT coaches and often employ KLT programs as part of our end stage rehab programs with benefits extending well beyond the recovery of a single ailment.
GLA:D® - Good Life with Arthritis
Allied Physiotherapy is proud to offer GLA:D® as comprehensive multi-week small group programs developed by researchers in Denmark that combine education and exercise for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms, as well as a new program for chronic back pain. It was brought to Australia in 2016 and is run as a not-for-profit initiative led by La Trobe University (Hip and knee). Allied Physiotherapy has been fine tuning our GLA:D program for many years, and love seeing the consistent results and comradery these sessions provide. As with all our speciality services, the starting point for GLA:D participants is a 1:1 Physiotherapy Consultation.
PRE AND POST SURGERY REHAB
If you are suffering from severe joint pain, or have recently sustained an injury for which it looks like surgery may be on the cards, our physiotherapists specialise in helping you best prepare for the procedure (prehab), building up your strength so that you are primed for optimal recovery after the deed is done. There are some circumstances where a thorough prehab can change the course of the treatment plan, reverting back to conservative (non-operative) management. We have close working relationships with many local Orthopedic Surgeons to help with collaborative decision making around this. Post operatively, a thorough rehab is just as important a the procedure itself to ensure a successful outcome. Unfortunately we too often have people present 2-3 years after a surgical procedure who have not undergone a proper rehab with very much suboptimal results.
CLINICAL PILATES
Our physios will often integrate the principles of Clinical Pilates, a personalised form of Pilates that focuses on therapeutic and rehabilitative benefits, into your prescribed home exercises, or within a 1:1 Reformer session. This can help to address musculoskeletal imbalances, improve core stability, enhance posture, and promote overall body strength and flexibility. By emphasizing controlled movements, proper alignment, and mindful breathing, Clinical Pilates aims to alleviate pain, prevent injuries, and improve functional movement patterns, ultimately enhancing overall physical well-being and quality of life.
HOME/GYM/TELEHEALTH CONSULTS
We recognise not everyone can make it into the clinic. For this reason we provide consultations in the comfort of your own home. For times when this too is not appropriate, Covid has made us well versed in the world of Telehealth consultations.
We also enjoy and frequently Consult with clients in their gym of choice. We find teaching you your rehab program using the same equipment you will be using ongoing to be most effective.
DRY NEEDLING
Dry needling is a frequently used speciality sub-component of our 1:1 Physiotherapy Consultations. One of our physios, Ben Bisset, has been fine tuning this manual therapy technique for over 15 years and often uses it as an adjunct to other manual therapy techniques.
PHYSIAPP
As they say, “there’s an app for everything,” and this is certainly now the case for the prescription of physiotherapy home exercise programs. Physiapp is the app of choice for Allied Physiotherapy, which gives you video descriptions, recording capabilities, pain scores, and important data that can be very useful for informed decision making around how and when we progress your program.
